2 Step Lead Generation stinks of technical software crap.


Boring.


I’m a business owner. Why should I know anything about this?


I’ll explain to you.

Here’s what happens.


Business owner hires a video maker.

Video maker records a video.

Video is edited and published.

Video gets a lot of views or no views.

Repeat.


Why is this nonsense?

Because you don’t know where your customers are coming from. 


How can you reinvest profit into the unknown? Imagine racing in Nascar and your car has no speedometer. You can win, but how fast did you go in lap 21? 


How can you get better? Where did you slow down? How are you doing compared to others?


You can’t possibly know. Because you can’t track it.


I’m going to reveal to you a secret I learned a while back that solves this issue.


Marketing is not about views and clicks.

Encourage interaction with the content to gauge interest and engagement.


Use A Facebook Pixel


Onto the nerdy stuff.


Don’t worry, pixels are an easy concept. 


You don’t need Javascript programming level to put this in place.


Facebook pixel is like a cookie. You give one cookie to a viewer. They eat it.


If they like it, they’ll come back.


If they don’t, they'll ignore you.


Here’s the catch.


You only want people ready to buy.


So, if you advertise to 10.000 people. Let’s say 1000 like your AD.


Those 1000 will be given a pixel. Guess who’s in control of that?


You.


Congratulations. 


You can now monitor the engagement of the ad.


If a sale is made, not only do you know who purchased it, you also know where they came from. 


Why is this important?


Because the majority of business owners don’t know where their customers are coming from. 


Is it referrals, instagram, facebook, the deep web… ?


Don’t know.


This is not optimal.

Who’s your dream client?


If you’re like me, you like money. Who doesn’t.


Then this question becomes much easier. Our dream client has money.


We want them to spend money on our business.

Did the ad perform? Who are we marketing to? Who clicked it?


Who are they?


These are the types of questions that should be asked when looking for results. 

We want engagement not interest.


Interested people like what you do. 

Engaged people buy what you sell.


But how do we know we are reaching out to the right people? 


What’s the metric? What fish do we want to catch? 


If we’re selling plumbing services and our marketing is reaching the homeless community of Birmingham chances are: it won’t make you much money.


You can have a million homeless filling out a form, yes … a trillion actually.

But if they don’t own a house, what pipes are you going to fix?

None.

It seems very simple. Because it is. 


The old days of knocking on doors being rejected 86 times out of 100 are over. 


You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to put your ad on the local papers. 

No one is reading it  anyways and you can’t track where they’re coming from.
